Science at the lash line

Bimatoprost is a prostaglandin analogue that acts on the hair follicle cycle. It prolongs the anagen (active growth) phase while shortening the telogen (resting) phase — meaning more lashes are growing at any given time, and they grow longer before shedding.

Applied with a single sterile applicator each evening along the upper lash margin, the solution is absorbed directly at the follicle. Results begin to appear around week 8 and reach their peak near week 16 with consistent use.

Who is a candidate?

  • Thin or sparse natural lashes (hypotrichosis)
  • Lash loss from chemotherapy or medical treatment
  • Age-related lash thinning
  • Those reducing dependence on lash extensions

Treatment protocol

  • Once nightly along the upper lash margin only
  • Remove contacts before applying; reinsert after 15 min
  • Blot any excess from the lower lid
  • Continuous use required to maintain results

What to expect

  • Visible growth change: weeks 8–16
  • Full peak results: approximately 16 weeks
  • Mild eyelid itching or redness possible early on
  • Results reverse gradually if treatment is stopped
