A physician-administered regenerative treatment that harnesses the healing power of your own platelets to restore, enhance, and rejuvenate male sexual function — naturally.
Request a ConsultationWhat is the
P-Shot®?
The Priapus Shot — commonly known as the P-Shot® — is a non-surgical, drug-free regenerative procedure that uses Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) derived from your own blood to stimulate tissue repair, neovascularization, and cellular rejuvenation in the penile tissue.
Named after Priapus, the Greek deity of fertility and virility, the procedure was pioneered by Dr. Charles Runels and has since been adopted by physicians worldwide as part of a growing evidence base in regenerative sexual medicine.
Unlike pharmaceutical interventions that temporarily mask symptoms, the P-Shot® works with your body's own biology — delivering concentrated growth factors directly to the target tissue to trigger lasting structural and functional improvements.
At Vital Med Clinic, all P-Shot® procedures are performed by the physician, ensuring the highest standard of clinical care, anatomical precision, and patient safety.
- Uses your own blood — no synthetic fillers or foreign substances
- In-office procedure typically completed in 60–90 minutes
- Local anaesthetic applied for a comfortable experience
- No downtime — most patients resume normal activity the same day
- Results develop progressively over 4–12 weeks
- Effects can last 12–18 months; repeat treatments extend benefit
- May be combined with other therapies for enhanced outcomes
- Physician-administered at every stage of the procedure
How the P-Shot®
Works
A precise, four-step process from blood draw to treatment, completed in a single visit with no surgery and no recovery time.
A small amount of blood — typically 20–60 mL — is drawn from your arm, identical to a routine blood test. This is the source of your platelet-rich plasma.
Your blood is placed in a centrifuge and spun to separate the plasma layer, concentrating platelets at levels 5–10× above baseline. This takes approximately 10 minutes.
A compounded topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and left to take effect for 20–30 minutes, ensuring the procedure is well-tolerated and comfortable.
The activated PRP is precisely injected into specific areas of penile tissue by our physician using a fine needle. The entire injection takes only a few minutes.
The Science
Behind PRP
Platelet-Rich Plasma is a concentration of platelets suspended in a small volume of plasma. Platelets are not only essential to clotting — they are biological carriers of growth factors, signalling proteins that orchestrate tissue repair and regeneration at the cellular level.
When PRP is injected into penile tissue, platelets are activated and release their payload of growth factors. These molecules initiate a cascade of biological events: stimulating resident stem cells, promoting the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis), encouraging collagen remodelling, and triggering the proliferation of smooth muscle cells within the corpus cavernosum.
The result is improved tissue health, vascular integrity, and nerve sensitivity — the foundational elements of healthy erectile and sexual function.
Platelet-Derived Growth Factor — stimulates cell growth and tissue repair
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor — promotes new blood vessel formation
Transforming Growth Factor — regulates tissue remodelling and collagen synthesis
Epidermal Growth Factor — supports tissue regeneration and cellular turnover
Insulin-like Growth Factor — enhances smooth muscle cell health and function
Fibroblast Growth Factor — encourages angiogenesis and nerve repair
What the P-Shot®
Can Address
The P-Shot® targets multiple dimensions of male sexual health simultaneously, addressing both the physiological and psychological aspects of sexual wellness.
Improved Erectile Function
By stimulating new blood vessel growth and improving vascular flow within the corpus cavernosum, the P-Shot® can help men achieve firmer, more reliable erections — including those with vascular-component erectile dysfunction.
Enhanced Sensitivity & Sensation
PRP growth factors promote nerve health and regeneration in penile tissue, often resulting in heightened tactile sensitivity and more intense sensory experiences during intimacy.
Increased Girth & Firmness
Collagen remodelling and tissue proliferation stimulated by PRP can result in modest but meaningful increases in penile girth and overall structural firmness over the weeks following treatment.
Sexual Stamina & Performance
Improvements in vascular health and tissue integrity translate to sustained performance and reduced recovery time between erections, supporting more satisfying and confident sexual encounters.
Peyronie's Disease Support
PRP has demonstrated the ability to break down fibrous scar tissue (Peyronie's plaques) over successive treatments, reducing penile curvature and pain associated with this condition.
Enhanced Response to ED Medications
Many patients who had a partial or diminishing response to PDE5 inhibitors (such as sildenafil or tadalafil) report significantly improved responsiveness following P-Shot® treatment.
Who is a
Good Candidate?
The P-Shot® is suitable for a broad range of men seeking to address sexual health concerns or enhance performance.
- ✓Men experiencing mild to moderate erectile dysfunction
- ✓Men with diminished sensitivity or sensation
- ✓Men with Peyronie's disease (penile curvature or scarring)
- ✓Men seeking to enhance sexual performance and confidence
- ✓Men with reduced response to oral ED medications
- ✓Men who prefer non-pharmaceutical, regenerative approaches
- ✓Men recovering from prostate treatment-related sexual side effects
- ✓Men seeking complementary support alongside testosterone therapy
Consultation Required
The P-Shot® may not be appropriate for men with active blood disorders, platelet dysfunction, or those on certain anticoagulation therapies. A thorough medical history and physician consultation is required prior to treatment to ensure candidacy and safety.
-
↓Day of Treatment
The procedure takes 60–90 minutes total. Topical anaesthetic is applied 20–30 minutes before injection. Mild pressure or warmth during injection is normal. You may return to daily activity immediately after.
-
↓Days 1 – 7
Minor swelling, redness, or sensitivity at the injection sites is normal and resolves within a few days. Sexual activity and exercise may be resumed after 24–48 hours.
-
↓Weeks 2 – 6
Growth factor activity accelerates tissue regeneration. Many patients begin noticing improvements in sensation, firmness, and performance during this period.
-
↓Weeks 6 – 12
Continued vascular and tissue remodelling. Peak results are typically experienced in this window, with improvements in erectile quality, girth, and sensation fully expressed.
-
↑Months 12 – 18
Results are long-lasting. A maintenance treatment at 12–18 months helps sustain and build upon the initial gains. Some patients choose annual treatments as part of an ongoing wellness protocol.
Frequently Asked
Questions
Discomfort is minimal for the vast majority of patients. A compounded topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area 20–30 minutes before injection, effectively numbing the tissue. Most men describe the sensation as mild pressure or warmth — not pain. The injection itself takes only a few minutes.
Many patients see meaningful results from a single treatment. However, a series of two to three sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is often recommended for men with moderate erectile dysfunction, Peyronie's disease, or those seeking more pronounced enhancement. Your physician will discuss an individualized treatment plan during your consultation.
Results from PRP are progressive rather than immediate, as the growth factors work over time to stimulate tissue regeneration. Most patients notice early improvements in weeks 2–4, with peak results typically experienced between 6–12 weeks post-treatment. Unlike some treatments, benefits continue to develop and improve for several months.
The P-Shot® uses your own blood — there is no risk of allergic reaction or rejection. PRP has been used safely in orthopaedics, dentistry, and wound healing for decades. Because the procedure is administered by a physician using sterile technique, serious complications are extremely rare. Minor, self-resolving side effects such as temporary swelling or bruising at the injection site are the most commonly reported responses.
